She said fuck? So what?

It seems like big news that Jade Seah said something that sounded a lot like 'fuck' while hosting Today in Beijing a few nights ago. The profanity seemed to come at the right moment, when the footage was slightly screwed up and in such a situation it's common for people to swear and it seems like people want her taken off the air because of that. Here's the footage:

I might be wrong but I think it sounds more like a part of a word and it just happens to sound like fuck. You might think that I’m a Jade Seah fan and that I could be defending her but all I got to say to that is get a life! I am not a Jade Seah fan, I hardly watch any local productions, I don’t know Jade Seah and I wouldn’t be defending a person who doesn’t even know I exist.

But I could be wrong and if I am then all I have to say is stop overreacting! Seriously, what is the harm in swearing on national TV? If it’s because it could be a bad influence on kids, then don’t send your kids to school because we all know that they’ll be learning much more than ‘fuck’ in any school.

Or maybe because we’re a conservative Asian country. But then again, are we really that conservative? The commoners of our country are telling each other to go ‘fuck your mama’ (after translation) as often as any normal person breathes but where did they learn that phrase from? Watching Today in Beijing? I highly doubt so. And if we really are that conservative then shouldn’t Tammy be executed for making a sex video or teens punished for having sexual intercourse?

Let’s face it: we’re not a conservative country and in this day and age, we can’t be. It’s like too much damage has already been done and there is no way to undo it. In other words, you can’t stop a storm from approaching. You can try but you’ll never succeed.
